The border region “the Empire of Nijmegen” is known for its beautiful nature with hills and forests. The oldest city of the Netherlands has been hit the hardest compared to other Dutch cities during the Second World War. Over 2200 citizens of Nijmegen did not survive the Second World War. No wonder the history of the WOII is still alive in this region.
The collaboration between Fletcher Hotels, the National Liberation Museum 1944-1945, Gilde Nijmegen, Sunset March (A daily honour march on the city wall in Nijmegen for the Allies, who fought for the liberation of the Netherlands), Grenzland-Draisine (Pedalling like you are on a bike you will drive the wagon along the old train tracks between the Netherlands and Germany.) and Liberation Tour (the last year of war in Groesbeek) let you experience the impressive history in a unique way by crossing borders.
